Privacy policy

This explains what personal information Stand-To Ventures, LLC, a Colorado limited liability company, doing business as Upstream Web Designs collects, why, and what you can ask me to do about it. I am one person running a small design studio, and I collect as little as I can get away with.

What I collect

If you contact me. Your name, your email address, and whatever you write to me. That is it.

If you become a client. The details needed to write and perform an agreement: your name, your business name, your email address, your job title if you give one, and the project details. Your signature, the date and time you signed, and the network address you signed from, because an electronically signed agreement is only worth anything if it is recorded properly.

Project material you send me. Whatever you upload or link for the build: photos, logos, copy, prices, hours, services, and any documents you choose to share. If you send me material about other people, such as staff photos or customer reviews, you are confirming you have the right to share it.

Payment information. I do not see or store your card details. Payments are processed on a secure payment page by the payment provider, and I receive only the fact of payment, the amount, and the last digits of the card.

Basic technical information. My hosting and the private project pages record standard request data such as network address, browser type, and timestamps, which is used to keep the service working and secure.

What I do not do

I do not sell your personal information, and I never have.
I do not share it for anyone else's advertising.
I do not run advertising or tracking pixels on this site.
I do not use your information, or your project material, to train any machine learning model.

Why I hold it

To write and perform your agreement, and to be able to prove what was agreed
To take payment and keep proper financial records
To build and hand over your site
To answer you when you get in touch
To meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations

Who else sees it

Only the companies I need to run the business, and only for that purpose:

The payment provider, to process payments and issue receipts
Email and hosting providers, to send you email and serve your project pages
The platform your site is built on, where I work inside the account you own
My accountant, and any professional adviser bound to keep it confidential

I will disclose information if the law genuinely requires it. If that ever happens and I am allowed to tell you, I will.

How long I keep it

Signed agreements, payment records, and the evidence attached to them are kept for as long as tax and limitation periods require, because that is what they are for. Project material is kept for the life of the project and a reasonable period after handover, so I can help if something breaks. Ask me to delete project material once a project is closed and I will, unless I need a specific item to meet a legal obligation. If I cannot delete something, I will tell you which item and why.

Your choices

Whatever state or country you are in, you can ask me to:

Tell you what I hold about you
Correct anything wrong
Delete it, where I am not required to keep it
Send you a copy in a portable form
Stop emailing you, at any time

Email hello@upstreamwebdesigns.com and say which one you want. I do not charge for this, I do not require a special form, and I will not treat you differently for asking. I aim to answer within a few days and will not take longer than the law allows.

I do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of on that front. I do not make automated decisions about people.

Children

This is a service for business owners. I do not knowingly collect information from children under 16. If you believe a child has sent me something, email me and I will delete it.

Security

Project pages are private links, payments run on the provider's secure page, and I keep access to client accounts only while a build is underway. No system is perfect, and I will not pretend otherwise. If something happens that affects your information, I will tell you promptly and plainly rather than quietly.

Changes

If I change this policy I will update the date shown on this page. If a change is significant and affects a current client, I will email you rather than rely on you noticing.
